I find myself…

I find myself in the fallen leaves scattered on the ground,
crushed beneath the careless footsteps of strangers.

I find myself in the hollow, dreamless eyes of a beggar boy,
standing silently at the corner of a street,
waiting for the mercy of a few coins.

I find myself in the smile of a newborn child,
eyes just opening, unaware that he is born in
a world scarred by a decade-long war.

I find myself in the fierce, passionate hearts of young women,
fresh with dreams and newly earned degrees,
believing to change the world.
But soon their fire fades away
and the world keeps moving in its indifferent,
unyielding, and ruthless way.

I find myself sharing a simple meal
with a family in a small hut,
under the scorching heat of summer—
a hard-earned and the only meal of their day,
and enjoying like a grand feast.

I find myself with the sailor alone at sea in his ship,
adrift on endless waters, far from land,
yearning for the warmth of another human being,
and the comfort of fresh-cooked food.

I find myself afraid of the merciless floodwaters,
swallowing everything in their path,
leaving behind the stranded, the hungry, the helpless—
people who already lived on the edge,
now pushed into deeper misery.

I find myself in sorrows and in joys,
in struggles and in triumphs,
Everywhere I look,
I find pieces of myself_
scattered in the world.

somewhere in my memory, lives a boy…
