‘It’s not always okay’

When she calls you and shares her problems with you,
Don’t dismiss her feelings by saying ‘it’ll be fine’
or ‘You are thinking too much.’
Instead, acknowledge her pain and assure her that whatever she’s experiencing is real.
Tell her that you’re surprised how much she’s had to put up with.
Let her know that her feelings of self-pity are valid and that it’s okay to have negative thoughts if it helps her cope.
Encourage her to fully express her emotions, even if it means crying and emotionally draining herself.
Remind her that you’re there for her and that she doesn’t have to go through this alone.
So please, don’t just ignore her feelings with a simple ‘it’s okay.’
